Born in Brooklyn, New York and raised on Long Island, Mark Comneck moved to Texas in 1981 after graduating with a bachelor's degree from Bethany College in West Virginia. He earned his master's degree from University of Houston at Clear Lake in 1988.
Comneck moved to Angleton ISD in 1988 to begin his career as a campus administrator after teaching and coaching for seven years in Brazosport ISD. He served 18 as a campus principal at Angleton Middle School, Middle School East, and the 5th and 6th-grade campus before moving to the central office in 2007 as the Director of Secondary Education. In 2010, Comneck was named the Assistant Superintendent. His job responsibilities include overseeing and supporting the daily operations of the school district, including the following departments: Transportation, Child Nutrition, Maintenance, and Custodial Services, Technology, PEIMS, and Capital Projects.
