    As superintendent of this great district, I strongly believe in the character traits that we discuss daily with our students and with each other: trustworthiness, respect, fairness, responsibility, caring and citizenship. Those are not just words that we say to sound good; those are words that we as individuals and as a collective group must live by every day.

    When each of us strives to incorporate these character traits into our school culture, we ensure that Angleton ISD lives up to the highest ethical standards that make each of us proud to be a part of this district. Unfortunately, there have been episodes through the years of lapses in ethics and, in fact, criminality. And as we have investigated these past issues, invariably, someone will tell us, “You know, I always thought something suspicious was going on there.”

    As superintendent, it is my responsibility to provide an environment where each of us feels safe and can report improper behavior in complete confidence. Thus, we have engaged Lighthouse Service, Inc. to provide all employees with access to an anonymous ethics and compliance hotline for reporting possible violations.

    Reports may include but are not limited to, such topics as:

                    sexual harassment                                    

                    alcohol and substance abuse                   

                    conflict of interest                                    

                    violation of the law                                    

                    threats                                                    

                    misuse of district property                       

                    theft

                    fraud

                    embezzlement

                    falsification or reports/records

                    bribery and kickback

                    vandalism/sabotage

    This anonymous hotline is not designed to take the place of your sharing information or concerns with your principal or supervisor; nor is it designed to take the place of the usual employee grievance process. Rather, this anonymous hotline is designed to ensure that we know about legitimate concerns that you may be hesitant to report through normal channels. If you have information that you believe you need to share through this anonymous hotline, you may do so in the following ways:

    Please note that the information provided by you may become the basis of an internal and/or external investigation. Your anonymity will be protected to the extent allowed by law. However, your identity may become known during the investigation because of the type information you provided.

    I feel very strongly that the people of Angleton ISD are among the best in the world. After all, we are trusted with the most precious resource of this community: our children. That is why it is essential that we continue to work together to ensure that all of us abide by the highest ethical principles.
