    Join the A-Team as a Substitute!

    Angleton ISD hosts Substitute Orientation sessions several times a year to employ the best possible substitutes in the area. The requirements to become a substitute teacher with AISD are listed below.

    A High School Diploma plus one or more of the following:

    • 30 or more college hours (transcript required)
    • Current Texas Teaching Certification**
    • Have had been a Highly Qualified Instructional Assistant within the past 3 years at AISD**
    • Have been a Substitute Teacher within the past 3 years at AISD**
    • Online Substitute Training Certificate through Region 4-Please see the bottom of this page for the direct link to the Region 4 training.

    Paraprofessional Substitute $75
    Classroom Teacher:
    Approved Training Course/30+ College Hours $90
    Bachelor's Degree $95
    Certified Teacher $110
    Long-Term Substitute (after 10 days in same assignment):
    Non-degreed $100
    Bachelor's Degree $125
    Certified Teacher $150
    Nurse Substitutes:
    LVN $90
    RN $125
    Counselor $185
    Certified Campus Administrator $240

     *Please complete the application for Substitute Teacher/Subsitute Nurse online. 

    The school board has approved bonuses for substitutes for the 2nd year in a row. A one-time bonus will be awarded for substituting at any grade level for a total of 30 days. There is also an additional one-time bonus for substituting 5 days at the elementary level, 5 days at the jr high level AND 5 days at the high school level. These do not have to be consecutive days. Please let me know once you reach these goals and I will verify so that you can be paid on the next paycheck.

     

    ALL CURRENT AND NEW SUBSTITUTES WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE SAFE SCHOOLS TRAINING, ALICE ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAINING AND A SAFETY PRESENTATION BEFORE THEY WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO SUBSITUTE TEACH.

Required Substitute Certification Course

  • This course is designed for anyone who will be substituting in elementary and/or secondary schools. Training includes topics on the professional and routine duties of the substitute teacher, the basics of instruction and classroom organization, and principles of classroom management. Take advantage of this innovative e-learning course to effectively support the students in your classroom. *This training is an affordable way for participants to gain or improve their substitute teaching skills. It does not guarantee a substitute position with any school district. 

    Region IV Substitute Certification

    To register for the session, please follow these steps:

    1.  Visit the link above.

    2. Select the blue register button to register for the session.

    3. Follow the prompts to complete the registration.

    You will know you have successfully registered when you see the screen saying, "Thank you for your registration". Please note that once you register and pay ($35 fee) for the session, you have 30 days from the payment date to complete the course. Training is approximately 6 hours long. It is important that each time you log off the session, you must click, "Save", to keep your information, including when you complete the course.
