    COVID-19 Symptoms
    These symptoms are not considered typical for the student, or the parent/student does not know the cause of the symptoms:

    • Fever or chills
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing that is not typical for you
    • Muscle or body aches without a reason (ie. hurt back, exercise)
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea
    • Cough
    • Fatigue
    • Headache
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion or runny nose

     
    Student COVID-19 Protocols

    Exposure to an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19.

    • Testing is optional. AISD has a limited number of tests and will test on campuses as long as tests are available.

    Exposure

    • If exposure happens on campus, the campus will contact the parents/students. If exposure happens off-campus, it is recommended that the parent contact the child’s school.
    • The parent may opt to test his/her child upon notification and day 5. AISD has a limited number of tests and will test on campuses as long as tests are available.
    • CDC recommends wearing a well-fitting mask for 10 days from the last day of contact.

    Symptomatic Student

    • If the student develops symptoms at school, then the parents will be contacted to determine appropriate actions.
    • If the student is symptomatic at home, parents should contact the school and keep the student at home. 
    • To return to school, the student must:   
      • Wait 24 hours after symptom(s) begin
      • Be fever free
      • Have a negative COVID-19 test result or have finished his/her isolation period
    • Campuses shall communicate with students and parents to develop a plan to continue student work during this time.
    • Symptomatic is defined as one of the following:

    Positive COVID-19 Student

    • If a student has a positive COVID test, he/she must be isolated for at least 5 days after the beginning of symptoms (or date of positive test). The student may return if he/she is fever-free and symptoms have improved after this 5-day period. The CDC recommends that masks be worn for an additional 5 days after a person who has tested positive returns from a 5-day isolation period.

    *All Positive Cases will be reported to the Brazoria County Health Department.

    *All students and staff may be tested for free during school hours at a campus.

    *At this time, AISD does not require masks to be worn.

    Additional Mitigation Procedures

    • AISD does not have any modifications for social/physical distancing in place at this time.
    • AISD recommends frequent handwashing and the review of respiratory etiquette throughout the school and work day.
    • AISD facilities are sanitized regularly and as needed.
    • AISD provides appropriate accommodations for children with disabilities.
    • AISD coordinates with the Brazoria County Health Department and state officials.
    • AISD does not require students or staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19. For those wanting to be vaccinated, the following is a list of Angleton-area vaccination and booster locations:
