  • return to school banner

The information in the individual school reopening plan applies mostly to students who will participate in On-Campus Learning.

For the safety of everyone, staff, students and visitors will all wear masks.

Bus transportation will be available to eligible riders. Students will have their temperatures taken prior to boarding the bus and masks will be worn. We are encouraging parents to drop off and pick up their children if possible. A FastPass will be provided by the AISD Transportation Department for bus riders.

If students have fever or symptoms when they enter the building, or get sick throughout the day, they will be secluded in a classroom until parents can arrive to pick them up.

Angleton High School doors will open at 7:30 am. All Wildcats will be screened upon entry to the building for temperatures and COVID-19 symptoms. Any student showing signs of COVID-19 symptoms will be asked to call home to be picked up. All Wildcats must wear a face mask/covering in order to gain entry to the building.

    • Freshman and Sophomores will enter the building through the main front entrance. Juniors will utilize the doors by the Gym, and Seniors will use the doors by the Auditorium.
    • Students will report directly to their 1st-period classroom. A grab-and-go breakfast will be available to students on their way to their 1st-period class.
    • Bus riders - We will begin unloading buses at 7:30 am. Students will enter the building and have their temperatures taken and be given hand sanitizer.
    • Students will practice social distancing while in the building.

There will be no visitors permitted on campus unless you have a scheduled meeting. Receptionists will help parents who need to check out a child throughout the school day. All visitors will be asked to wear masks, take their temperatures, and sanitize their hands. All visitors will wait for their child in the security vestibule area. For safety reasons, food/lunch deliveries will not be permitted this school year.

All students will be provided with the option of eating a free breakfast in their first-period classroom this year.

For safety reasons face masks/coverings will be worn by all Wildcats during instructional time. To enhance the educational experience, teachers will utilize the Google Classroom learning management system. Classroom arrangements have been made to ensure proper social distancing and to maximize student attention; all desks will be facing the same direction.

Students must report to school every day with a fully-charged Chromebook. Students will not be allowed to bring personal devices for use during the school day. Students must use their school-issued Chromebooks on campus.

There will be signage and markings that indicate social distancing throughout the building.

Student restroom breaks will be minimized, and the number of students allowed in any restroom at one time will be limited. Custodial staff will clean and sanitize restrooms frequently. Administrators and hall monitors will perform regular ongoing checks of restrooms to ensure that the facilities are clean. During periods of class transition, restroom monitors will be assigned to ensure that social distancing guidelines are properly observed by all students.

Students will be allowed to bring a water bottle to keep hydrated throughout the day. Students will not be permitted to drink directly from the water fountains.

All Wildcats will wear face masks/coverings when appropriate. Students will not use the locker rooms and will not be required to dress out for PE. Students will participate in light activities and classroom-based material. All Wildcats will follow social distancing guidelines during PE.

All students will eat in their classrooms. Students may bring lunch to school, or one will be provided by the cafeteria. No lunch deliveries will be accepted, and no students may leave campus for lunch We will not allow lunch visitors.

Dismissal will be at 3:55 pm. Bus riders will be dismissed first, followed by car riders and walkers.  All students will practice social distancing as they move throughout the building to their dismissal destinations.

Students must report to any after-school activities no later than five minutes from dismissal. Loitering in the hallways will be prohibited.

Safety drills will continue to be practiced throughout the school year. Fire drills and severe weather drills will be practiced on both A & B days in order to keep all students safe. Lockdown drills and shelter-in-place drills will be practiced schoolwide. Students will remain in classrooms.

Student attendance will be tracked throughout the school year. The Texas 90% attendance rule will be in effect for the 2020-21 school year. Students will receive credit for school days by being in class on their designated A/B day and by completing Google Classroom daily assignments.  Students will need to submit daily assignments by 11:59 pm the same day as assigned for attendance purposes.

Parents may request to change a student’s learning model, and those requests will be processed according to the following timelines:

Initial request to go from Online Learning to On-Campus Learning will be processed within 5 days. Those students who make multiple requests to change from Online Learning to On-Campus Learning will be required to wait until the end of the nine-week grading period.

Requests to change from On-Campus Learning to Online Learning will be processed within 1 school day.

If there is a positive COVID-19 case or if someone has COVID-19 symptoms at a campus, the campus will send a letter home with the students. If a child has come in close contact with the infected or possibly infected individual, the parent will receive a direct call from the campus.

Due to privacy laws and rules, we cannot identify the person, student or staff, who has tested positive or who has symptoms. We will initiate our COVID-19 sanitizing and disinfecting protocols for the campus, and we urge you to continue to talk with your child about the proper safety precautions he or she can take while at school.

We will continue to participate and encourage best safety practices at school, which include washing hands, use of hand sanitizer, wearing masks and/or face shields, and social distancing. If you have questions, please contact your child’s principal.

Parents need to make sure that they keep their contact information in Skyward updated. There exists a possibility that we may need to have a classroom, a campus, or the entire school district resume online learning for an extended period of time, and we want to make sure that we have the most updated information on file to reach parents as soon as possible.
