Welcome to 5th grade!
Welcome to fifth grade! This is your child's last year of elementary school and we hope to make it their best year! Our goal this year is to prepare your child both academically and socially for junior high and beyond. This is a challenging year, however, we will work together to make it a successful year.
Fifth grade is an exciting time of firsts and lasts. Fifth graders are allowed to eat outside many days as weather and behavior permits. We learn to keep a planer and organize ourselves so we are ready for the challenges of sixth grade. Class money is used as an incentive for good choices and as a learning tool for budgeting and saving. This also teaches responsibility, as students are required to keep up with their wallet and money. We work on study skills and practices to help with memorization for fact based tests. We have challenges between classes to earn rewards. This is a bittersweet year as students are given the responsibility of being the "big" kids on campus while still getting to enjoy being on an elementary campus.
