• Welcome to Fourth Grade!

We have loved working with you and your child this year. We are here to help any way we can. Don't be a stranger to your child's teacher. Team up, work together. Ask how you can help. Kleenex and Clorox wipes are always appreciated!

Curriculum Highlights

  • 4th graders are deep into the year and learning all kinds of math skills. Problem solving is always a key focus. We are diving into geometry this quarter. We’ll learn so much vocabulary and use it to describe and identify shapes and angles. We will also explore area and perimeter and apply all our knowledge to real world situations.

Our fabulous 4th-grade writers continues writing letters, narratives, and poetry. We will also be working on our first edition of The 4th Grade Facts newspaper. So, keep an eye out for letters, stories, poems, and a newspaper from your young writer!

This year we will work to fine-tune those reading skills, all while adding a few new ones, the main one being summarizing and analyzing. Summarizing will teach students how to pull out the important ideas from a text. If they are able to analyze what is being read and summarize it, this will help students remember what they read. I will encourage them to read for AR points and use their books to build on the skills being taught. Reading is fundamental, so I ask for your help by having your student read  for at least 20 minutes every night.
