Welcome back!

During the 1st quarter, we will be very busy. Students and teachers will be working to assess skill strengths and areas that can be improved upon. We will be working in small groups to focus weekly on spiraling lessons. I will be meeting at least 2 times a week with each student to support their learning. Our class will be working on story elements and the always exciting genre of drama throughout this 1st quarter. Please encourage your child to read at home!

Writing will be an important part of our daily routines. Students will be  broadening their writing portfolios, and there will be a strong emphasis on narrative writing. I will be working with students during each step of the writing process and am excited to see what we can accomplish together.

In Social Studies, we will tackle the formation of the United States. Who, how, why, and where did our nation start will be questions we find the answers to as we explore the past.

Process standards, which includes tools and ways to show thinking, are interwoven into Content standards. Please check your student's binder and science journal for notes and vocabulary. There will always be vocabulary to practice!
