  • Why are the Google Classroom grades not in Skyward yet?

    Posted by:

Google Classroom grades do not automatically sync with Skyward.  Teachers will have to manually enter in grades once students have turned in the assignments on Google Classroom.  Teachers update their grade books a minimum of once a week.  Please keep this in mind when checking grades, and allow adequate time for grade entry.

  • What is asynchronous online learning?

    Posted by:

Online asynchronous learning is providing students with lessons and class work through an online learning management system such as Google Classroom instead of face-to-face or live (synchronous) online learning.

  • How will attendance be taken?

    Posted by:

Students will log on to each class in Google Classroom, click the Classwork tab, and complete the attendance form or question under "Attendance."  If the attendance is a Google Form, after the student clicks submit, he/she must complete a final step of clicking "Turn In" in Google Classroom.  This must be done for every class to be counted present.

  • Where can my student find the assignments he/she should be working on each day?

    Posted by:

Once the student logs in to Google Classroom, he/she will click on the class.  After that, it is extremely important that the student clicks on the correct tab, CLASSWORK.  By default, the student will see the "Stream," which will show announcements and assignments uploaded by the teacher.  Because the assignments in the stream are not necessarily those that are due on that day, it is advised that students look at the CLASSWORK tab.  Here, teachers have organized classwork by week and day, and the important attendance check-in will be found at the top of the page.

  • My teacher says I didn’t submit my attendance and/or assignment, but I know I did. What’s going on?

    Posted by:

If you do not go back to Google Classroom and click the "Turn In" button, this can make it appear as if you did not complete the assignment.  Even if you click Submit on a Google Form, it does not show up in Google Classroom until you click the "Turn In" button.  Parents, please know that a student can turn in a blank assignment, and it will show that it is "turned in" on Google Classroom.  If you see a zero for an assignment that is shown as turned in, please contact the teacher or look in Skyward for comments next to the grade.  Teachers may put information in the comments that will clarify why a grade is a zero.

  • Why do I have more than one of each class in Google Classroom?

    Posted by:

To provide a dedicated online teacher to each online student, we changed students' schedules, so they would be in their new online teachers' classes.  Once your new teacher obtains your grades from your former Google Classroom, the old Google Classroom should go away.  If you're trying to decide which teacher's class to work in, check your schedule on Skyward.  It is recommended to work in the Google Classrooms of the teachers who are on your current schedule.

**Please note, any student who switches their learning mode (i.e. changing from online to on-campus or changing from on-campus to online) will experience duplicate Google Classrooms until grades are transferred over.  As stated above, check your new schedule to determine which Google Classroom to work in.

  • We received a message saying we used up our hotspot data. Now what?

    Posted by:

The district hotspots are on an unlimited plan.  These notifications are built into the Franklin T9 hotspot, but should be disregarded.  The speed should remain the same, and there is no limit.

  • Will student work be graded?

    Posted by:

Yes. During online learning, teachers will be providing lessons and assignments primarily through Google Classroom or Edgenuity.  A minimum of 2 assignments will be graded a week and updated in Skyward.  Students will also be given 2-3 major assignments per nine weeks, which will be graded and count as 40% of the student's average.  Students will be provided an opportunity to make up assignments as outlined in the remote learning guide.

  • How often will teachers contact students or parents regarding learning opportunities?

    Posted by:

Teachers will make contact by posting information and announcements in Google Classroom, as well as emailing parents and students through Skyward. It is imperative that parents with online students maintain a working email address in order to receive important updates and information.  Teachers will also respond to parent emails within 24 hours and provide feedback periodically on student class work.

  • My child receives classroom accommodations. How will that happen during online learning?

    Posted by:

Every special education and 504 student has a case manager who will check in with your student via phone or video conference.  The case manager will also provide assistance and support.  Your child's teacher will provide accommodations and/or modifications that are listed in the IEP or 504 plan.
