Ford Virtual Reading Party Brings Books to Southside
Southside Elementary 9rd-5th graders were among the nearly 10,000 students to participate in the Motor Co. Fund's Virtual Reading Party on Oct. 23. The virtual broadcast was part of the Ford Fund's partnership with the non-profit First Book and their mission to invest nearly $200,000 into the calssrooms hit hard by COVID-19. Southside was chosen thanks to a nomination from our local Gulf Coast Ford in Angleton.
Students heard from author Andrea Beaty and listened to her read her book, "Rosie Revere, Engineer," and were able to ask questions to both Beaty and the Elena Ford from Ford Motor Co.
In addition to the reading party, all 3rd-5th grade teachers were given $100 credit to purchase books and supplies through the First Book Market! The investment will provide nearly 30,000 books to the classrooms that participated.
Thank you so much to our local Gulf Coast Ford, Ford Motor Co. and First Book for supporting our Angleton ISD students! We lucky to have such a dedicated local partner and proud to add Ford Motor Co. and First Book to the A-Team - school, home and community working together for the future!
