This afternoon, an Angleton ISD school bus moved to the side of the road on Business 288 to evacuate based on a loud noise that came from the bus. All students and the staff are safe. We believe the bus was struck by lightning, and the driver made the call to evacuate the bus to determine the safety of the situation and the effect on the bus. All students were safely transferred to another bus to be transported home.
Members of the AISD Transportation Department mechanical team and the Angleton ISD Police Department were called to the scene to help with the situation.
