shelter in place

Attention Parents of Students at Westside and CATS

Thursday, January 29, 2026

City of Angleton Emergency Management has requested that we place Westside Elementary and CATS/PACE Academy on a shelter-in-place due to a potential leak in the area. The shelter-in-place is being done out of an abundance of caution and is for those campuses only. Angleton ISD safety protocols for a shelter-in-place require that students and staff remain in the building while officials work on the issue. Parents and community members are requested to stay away from the area until the issue is resolved, however parents may pick up their children if they choose.

Currently, all students and staff are safe and following their regular schedules inside the building but will not have any outdoor activities at this time. The shelter-in-place will be removed once the district receives confirmation from city emergency management officials that the issue is resolved, and we will keep you updated.

If you have questions, please contact your child’s principal.
