Welcome to a new school year! We ask for your understanding and patience as we work through the first week of school to make sure all our student drop-offs and pick-ups go as smoothly as possible. Our top priority is the safety of our students, families, and staff as we work to get our students to and from school in the most efficient and safest ways possible.
As we begin the year, please anticipate longer and slower-moving car rider lines as well as bus pick-ups and drop-offs that may need extra time. This is normal and expected with the start of school, and there may be even more wait time this year as we open two new schools and accommodate transportation needs with new neighborhoods and new roads as well as moving several students to new schools due to recent rezoning.
With your help and understanding, the process will soon run smoothly and efficiently.
The following is some important information for the following schools: Angleton Junior High, Central Elementary, Rancho Isabella Elementary, Heartland Elementary, and Heritage Junior High.

Car Rider Pick-Up Request
In order to get our buses to the elementary schools on time for their pick-up schedules, we need to start rolling our buses out of AJH around 2:45 p.m. Please help us by not blocking the bus exits, specifically on Henderson Road.

Heartland Elementary
The first day of school is Tuesday, August 19. Doors will open at 7:40 a.m., and you may walk your child into their classroom on the first day of school.
Car-Rider Pick-Up Request
We ask those picking students up in cars after school not to come until 3:05 p.m. for pick-up. We cannot stack up vehicles on Sapphire Springs until after 3:05 p.m. in order to keep the flow open for Heritage Junior High pick-up, which is before Heartland's pick-up time.
Arrival Procedures
Car Riders - We will begin unloading cars at 7:40 a.m. Please be sure a staff member is on duty before your child exits the vehicle. The first bell rings at 8:05 a.m., and the tardy bell rings at 8:15 a.m. If your child arrives at 8:15 a.m., he/she is tardy, and an adult must accompany him/her to the front office to sign them in for the day.
Car Riders and Daycare
Our Car Rider lane is located at the back of the school. Please form one lane. We will begin unloading cars at 7:40 a.m.
Bus Riders
Our bus lane is located at the front of the school. We will begin unloading buses at 7:40 a.m. If you are going to the front office, please be sure to park in the parking lot and not directly in front of the campus.
SOAR Students
Drop-off and pick-up will be in the front of the building. Staff will be available to assist your child with getting in and out of the car.
Dismissal Procedures
Dismissal begins at 3:55 p.m. To ensure the safety of all students, staff and parents, parent “walk ups” are not allowed as part of our dismissal plan. All car riders will be picked up in the back of the building. Car rider tags will be provided for parents to display from their rearview mirrors/front windshields. It is important for you to have it visible in your car to help expedite the loading process. If you arrive with no car tag, you will be asked to park and check in at the front office. To pick up a student, you must present a photo ID to verify you are approved for pick up. For the safety of our students and staff, do not cut the line. We ask for patience at the beginning of the year because we know we will have a lot more car riders than normal. Once everyone learns the procedures, the car rider line will run more smoothly and quickly.
Your child will remain in the car rider area under supervision until 4:15 p.m. After that time, Heartland staff will escort them to the front office, where they will wait for your arrival. Parents picking up their child after 4:15 p.m. must report to the office to sign their child out and show identification. Staff is only available until 4:25 p.m., and students must be picked up before then.
If you need to change your child’s transportation during the school day, you will need to contact the front office prior to 2:55 p.m. Do not message or email the teacher, as they cannot always check their messages during the school day.
Boys & Girls Club of Brazoria County (BCBGC)
We are working to continue our partnership and programming with the BCBGC. Pending final approval, we anticipate offering the BCBGC after-school program to families this year.
Updates
Please continue to check Heartland’s social media channels and campus website for updates.
Car Rider Pick-Up Procedures
All car riders will be picked up from the back of the building. We will have two active carrider lanes for dismissal. Our driveway is four lanes wide and will be organized as follows:
Lane A – Closest to the building
Empty Safety Lane – To allow students to cross safely
Lane B – Next to the safety lane
A staff member will escort students across the safety lane to another staff member who will assist with loading them into your vehicle.
If you are one of the first cars to arrive, please pull all the way forward to the end of the awning to help keep the line moving. Staff members will be present to help with loading students.
🚗 Important Reminders
Please remain in your vehicle at all times during pick-up. If you need extra time to buckle your child, you are welcome to pull into a nearby parking space after pick-up.
