For several years, Westside has proudly welcomed Central’s bilingual Pre-K students for a special tour of their campus—a fun and exciting way to introduce them to their future school and help ease the transition into kindergarten and the Dual Language Program at Westside.
This year’s tour was extra special, as it marks the final one of its kind. Beginning next school year, the bilingual Pre-K program will be located at Westside, bringing our youngest learners under one roof even earlier!

Kevin Gaines from Wildlife Reveal and Phil Huxford from The Friends of Brazoria Wildlife Refuges visited Central Elementary for an exciting and educational Birds of Prey program! Students had the chance to get up close to incredible birds, including a Harris's hawk, an Eurasian Eagle owl, a black vulture, an Aplomado falcon, and an Australian laughing kookaburra. What a fun and unforgettable experience!

Important Message from Angleton ISD - AHS Drumline Competition Incident
Today, our Angleton High School Percussion Drumline was at a competition at Pasadena Memorial High School. There were 43 AHS students at the competition along with two band directors and a percussion technical consultant. At the end of the competition, as the band directors and technical consultant were leaving the school, an elderly male who was standing in the hallway took out a handgun and fired a shot. The technical consultant was hit in the shoulder and was transported to a Houston hospital. The victim never lost consciousness. The AISD percussion director left the scene unharmed and immediately got all AHS students on the bus. All AHS students were safely accounted for and have made their way home to Angleton safely and without further incident. Our information is that the elderly male was apprehended by Pasadena police.
AHS will have counselors on campus first thing in the morning on Monday when school returns to provide support for the students involved in this incident and any other students affected by this incident.
We are deeply saddened by this event, and we wish to commend the Angleton ISD staff for their quick and decisive action in keeping our students safe.
Our current information is that this is an ongoing investigation in which AISD will fully cooperate. Our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected by the incident, and we will continue to provide the needed support for our students and staff.
