We ask that everybody show their support and wear orange on Wednesday! The October Leadworthy Trait: Self-Direction For the month of October, the Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH) program will focus on the Leadworthy trait of Self-Direction. We encourage all families to discuss this important trait at home! What is Self-Direction? Self-direction is the ability to guide yourself toward your goals and to decide who you want to be as a person. It involves exercising self-control and consistently doing the right thing, regardless of whether anyone is watching. This trait empowers students to take personal responsibility for their actions and helps them learn to regulate their own emotions. Self-Direction in Action Students can demonstrate self-direction through several practices: Goal Setting: Defining personal and academic goals. Action Planning: Creating a strategy to achieve their goals. Self-Assessing and Reflecting: Evaluating their own progress and learning from their experiences. Making Positive Choices: Taking initiative to improve themselves and their relationships. Don't Miss Out: National Library Card Sign-Up Month! September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month, and we're excited to share a wonderful opportunity for all our students to get a Brazoria County Library System (BCLS) library card! How to Get Your Card: Complete the form your child will bring home and return it to us as soon as possible. We’ll deliver all completed applications to the Angleton Library. Cards will be created and sent back to Rancho for distribution to your child. Having a library card opens the door to so many fantastic resources, including: Cloud Library (ebooks & audiobooks) The Library of Things (fun and useful items for checkout) Countless other learning and creativity tools! We encourage every student to take advantage of this valuable resource. Also, please encourage your children to use the Free Little Library located right outside the front of Rancho—it's a great way to grab a quick, free book! Thank you for your continued partnership and support! Have a great week!
