Important Message - July 7, 2025

Angleton ISD continues to make safety and security a top priority throughout the district and will begin using weapons detection systems at various large-scale events and in schools. At the July board meeting, the AISD Board of Trustees approved the purchase of 12 CEIA OPENGATE Detection Systems.

The security detection devices will be used at high-attendance events, such as football games, fine arts contests and graduation, as well as being piloted on campuses.

“We continue to look for ways to enhance preparedness and maintain safe and secure environments for our students, staff and community, and we believe these systems will enhance our safety measures while also allowing us to maintain efficient school and event operations,” AISD Superintendent Phil Edwards said. “We want our community–students, staff, parents and visitors–to know that we continue to prioritize safety in our schools and school environments.”
