Earlier today, an alarm went off at Heartland Elementary after a sensor picked up extra dust particles due to some construction. At no point was there any fire or smoke, and the students and staff were not in danger.
When the alarm sounded, both Heartland and Heritage Junior High were evacuated as Angleton ISD maintenance staff, contractors and emergency personnel evaluated the situation. Again, there was no fire and no smoke. The Angleton Fire Department has cleared the campuses, and students and staff have returned to their campuses to continue school as normal.
