The power at Southside Elementary has been fully restored, and school is operating as normal.

We thank Texas New Mexico Power for their help with the issue, and we thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked to get the electricity back on as quickly as possible.

Earlier today, there was a partial power outage at the Southside Elementary campus that has led to a full power outage at that school. At this time, phones are also out at the campus due to the power outage. Students and staff are safe. The students have had lunch and are in classrooms with windows and natural light.

We are monitoring the temperature in the building and working with Texas New Mexico Power to fix the issue, but the power is not expected to be restored before the end of the school day. Parents are welcome to come check out their children if they wish, and we will release students as normal at the end of the day.
