July’s Board meeting was filled with Wildcat excellence and important decisions for the year ahead! From celebrating a two-time National FCCLA Champion and our outstanding AHS Theatre students to welcoming new campus leaders, trustees took action on several key priorities for AISD.
Trustees approved the purchase of six new school buses and the refinancing of district debt expected to save approximately $420,000.
The district welcomed Morgan Lindsey as Assistant Principal at Heritage Junior High and Lyndsey Gilbertson as Assistant Principal at Angleton High School, strengthening campus leadership for the 2026–2027 school year.

UPDATE - The Skyward system is back up and running as normal, and the district’s yearly information system rollover is complete so that information is now accurate for the 2026-2027 school year. Parents can proceed with back-to-school registration. Thank you for your continued patience as we worked to get the system up and running.
The Angleton High School Theatre Department excelled at the International Thespian Festival in Indiana this summer, bringing home some top awards at the prestigious festival and competition, which is a week-long theatre event with more than 4,500 attendees from across the world. Their accomplishments were acknowledged at last week's school board meeting.
Not only did our students get to experience workshops in an array of theatre fields taught by high-level theatre industry professionals at the festival, they also competed in various categories at the event.
Sawyer Hollis – received Superior Rank in Solo Acting
Piper Park – received Excellent Rank in Solo Acting
Jaxon Rice – received Excellent Rank Solo Acting
Ethan Arias – Winner in Solo Acting
Aydee Farciert – Winner in Solo Acting
Samantha Corona – Winner for Playwriting
We need to note that among thousands of entries from across the globe, Ethan, Aydee and Samantha were placed in the top echelon of high school performers and playwrights worldwide upon winning in their categories. AHS Theatre Director Christine Williams did a great job preparing our students for competition.
Our last recognition was for back-to-back National Champion – Sydney Johnson, who is a recent AHS graduate.
FCCLA – or Family, Career and Community Leaders of America – is the nation’s #1 career preparation and workforce readiness organization for students pursuing careers in various industry fields like Consumer Sciences.
Sydney recently returned home from the FCCLA National Competition, where she won 1st place in the Baking and Pastry competition. She competed against thousands of other students this past spring to rise to the final competition earlier this month. And, she nailed it at the competition, taking home the gold and the title of National champion.
To say that Sydney worked hard to reach her goal of taking the top award at Nationals is an understatement. She went into the competition doing three-hour practices four days a week and added extra practices on weekends and during holidays. She worked hard, and all that hard work and dedication clearly paid off. Thank you to Chef Hodge and Chef Skeen for helping guide Sydney on this award winning-journey.

Class was in session for some of our AISD staff members at this week's AISD Leadership University. Superintendent Dr. Alicia Press was on hand to welcome everyone as the team prepares for the start of the new school year.
UPDATE - Important Announcement from Angleton ISD - Skyward is still experiencing widespread issues due to the company’s upgrade and transition to a new hosting provider. Unfortunately, that means that Angleton ISD is still experiencing interruptions in our own Skyward system as the company works to fix the issues. The district is also working to do the yearly information system rollover to prepare for the upcoming school year and is closing the Skyward system down until the rollover is complete. We know Skyward is working to resolve their issues, and we are working to complete rollover as soon as possible to get the system back up and running as normal. We will continue to keep you updated, and we truly appreciate your patience as we work to get Skyward back up.
Important Announcement from Angleton ISD - Skyward is currently experiencing widespread outages and scheduled downtime across multiple school districts. This is due to a major system change as the company transitions to a new hosting provider along with routine end-of-year processing and maintenance. We will keep you updated and let you know when Skyward is back up and running. Thank you for your understanding, and we appreciate your patience as we work with Skyward to get the issues resolved as soon as possible.

At the June meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the hire of two key leadership appointments for Angleton ISD: Marcus Forney as the new Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Patrick Monaghan as Assistant Superintendent of Student Services.
Forney most recently served as Deputy Superintendent for Huntsville ISD, and Monaghan returns to AISD after previously serving as the district’s Director of Special Education Services and most recently serving as Executive Director of Special Programs in Dickinson ISD.
