Angleton ISD held convocation last Friday. There were plenty of laughs and lots of entertainment, including performances from the AISD Elementary Honor Choir and the Angleton High School Drumline. Staffers also heard from some incredible speakers, including Superintendent Phil Edwards. Chris McLeod, AISD alum and the 2023 Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year, spoke to the AISD team. Plus, Brazosport College President Dr. Vincent R. Solis delivered an inspiring message to our staff.

At Tuesday’s meeting, the Angleton ISD Board of Trustees approved a number of items, including a deal that would allot a piece of land to the City of Angleton. The piece of land, which is approximately 320,906 square feet, is located behind CATS/PACE Academy near the intersection of Walker Street and Hazel Street, and the city will use the land as an addition to Bates Park. The board unanimously approved the item. “This action is a benefit to the district because we will not have to continue to pay to maintain the unused land, and the district has no plans for future use of this land,” AISD Superintendent Phil Edwards said. “It will be for the public good as well. The city has to use the land for public purposes, so the land will go to benefit our parks and our community.” The board also approved the 2024-2025 Student Code of Conduct. The one significant change to the code of conduct is that the district will no longer provide transportation to CATS students placed at the school for disciplinary reasons. “Our objective with this move is to place more responsibility on the students and parents when there is disciplinary action that has taken place,” Edwards said. Edwards also says that more communication about this item will take place before the move is put into action. “We will communicate this change and initiate it after school starts to give families time to prepare for the change,” he said. “We will still transport CATS students for the first few weeks after school starts.” To read the full post, visit www.angletonisd.net/BytheBoard

REZONING UPDATE - We have added the student enrollment projections for the preliminary draft zones to the "Rezoning Info" on the AISD website at www.angletonisd.net. The enrollment projections are above the maps of the potential new attendance zones for the 2025-2026 school year on the website. REMINDER - There is a brief survey/form for Angleton ISD to collect input and allow our community to ask questions about the changes starting in the Fall of 2025 when we open two additional schools – Heartland Elementary and Heritage Junior High. The survey will close on Friday, August 30. (AISD has been developing new attendance zones as well as a new transfer policy for the 2025-2026 school year - not next school year.)

ATTENTION PARENTS - Important Message about School Supplies The Angleton ISD school supply lists at our Angleton Walmart do not match up with the school supply lists from the school district. The QR codes that Walmart has on signs around the store lead parents to Walmart’s corporate school supply list. These are not the correct AISD school supply lists. Walmart has been provided hard copies of the correct AISD school supply lists, and the lists can also be found on the AISD website under the Back to School HQ (under Students and Families) or at https://www.angletonisd.net/site/Default.aspx?PageID=410
