The June Board Meeting was a reflection of what makes Angleton ISD strong: exceptional students, dedicated employees, responsible planning, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

This month, trustees celebrated state-level accomplishments in athletics and fine arts, approved compensation enhancements for employees, welcomed new district leaders, continued support for programs that strengthen school culture, and reviewed updates focused on student safety and learning.

The Board also discussed a potential bond refinancing opportunity that could save more than $400,000.

From investing in people to planning for the future, every decision centered on supporting students and strengthening our schools.

At June's Board Meeting, several AISD students were recognized.

UIL State is the highest level a high school athlete can achieve, and we had two amazing young Track athletes qualify for State, earning top spots out of thousands of Texas athletes. Jake Brittain, who competed in the 400-Meter – Jake had a stellar finish at State, taking 6th place in his event. Traevonne Latimer, who competed in the 110-Meter Hurdles – Traevonne came home a State Champion, winning Gold and closing out his high school career on top.

We also recognized some outstanding high school musicians who excelled at this year’s UIL Texas State Solo & Ensemble Competition. We had seven soloists and three ensembles from the band and choir receive Superior ratings. Earning a Superior rating is the equivalent of receiving a Gold medal honor at State, which means these musicians garnered the highest accolade at State.

Earning a Superior in Solo Band – Camille Martinez for Percussion.

Our Trombone Quartet also earned a Superior:
Wesley Arce
Alex Cerda
Jordan Muraira
Jamison Todd.

Rounding out the Band honors, our Percussion Ensemble earned a Superior:
Mason Blalock
Jordyn Loyd
Sean Randall

Finally, we closed our recognitions with another group of amazingly talented musicians, members of our AHS Choir who stood out at UIL State and earned top honors with a Superior Rating.

Tenor/Bass Quartet earned a Superior:
Alex Cerda
Jayden Krom
Jake Oden
Joshua Pointer

We had our choir students who earned Superiors in solo competitions:
Julianna Bosquez – Soprano
Jordan Cantu – Baritone
Jayden Krom – Tenor (who also earned a Superior at State in the Tenor/Bass Quartet)
Emily Peck – Soprano
Azael Torres – Tenor
Brodey Cates – Bass - We also need to note that Brodey was recognized at State as an Outstanding Performer, which is a huge honor that is only given to the best of the best performances in the State.
