A big thank you to the Brazoria County Clerk’s Office for hosting a supply drive to support students in Angleton ISD!
County Clerk Joyce Hudman and Brandy Pena presented the donated school supplies to AISD Superintendent Dr. Alicia Press, Director of Communications Hanna Chalmers, and Community Relations Director Christi McCracken.
These supplies will be distributed to students at Angleton High School and will help provide them with some of the tools they need to be successful in the classroom.

UPDATE - The phones in the school district are back to working as normal, and the district can now receive calls in and make calls out. We appreciate our AISD Technology Department for working quickly to resolve the issue.
Important Message from Angleton ISD - Currently, the phone service in the school district is down. The district cannot receive calls in or make calls out, but the phones are working internally within the district.
At this time, we have not been given an estimated time of when the issue will be resolved. The district is working on the issue and is in contact with the service provider, and we will update you when the issue is resolved.

Before the start of the school year, eight Angleton ISD students took part in an incredible high-adventure experience as members of Boy Scouts of America Troop 13, traveling to Atikokan, Canada, for a Northern Tier High Adventure Canoe Trip.
The students spent a week paddling through the Crown Lands of Canada, covering an impressive 50 miles by canoe while camping and navigating the Canadian wilderness.
Representing Angleton High School were:
• Landry Barber – 9th Grade
• Connor Fortenberry – 10th Grade
• Luke Harvey – 9th Grade
• Elijah Lara – 10th Grade
• Levi Muguerza – 11th Grade
• Glenn Muskopff – 10th Grade
• Luke Smith – 11th Grade
• Noah Smith – 9th Grade
The students were joined by leaders Josh Harvey, Josh Lara and Travis Smith.
This was more than just a canoe trip. It was an opportunity for these Angleton ISD students to challenge themselves, work as a team, develop leadership skills and experience the great outdoors.
And there’s even more to celebrate — all eight students who participated are close to earning the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting.

Angleton ISD officials have been monitoring the weather, and recent forecasts show a tropical system currently in the Gulf that is expected to remain mostly east of the Angleton area. We could still experience some heavy rainfall on Tuesday; however, we do not anticipate any major disruption to our regular school schedules at this time.
We plan to continue with school as normal, including after-school activities. Please communicate with coaches and sponsors about extracurricular activities if you have questions.
The safety of our Wildcat family is our main priority. When making decisions about closing school for weather issues, AISD officials examine the weather conditions to ensure travel to and from school is safe. If there is potential for weather that could create unsafe road conditions, then we will review the situation and make appropriate decisions concerning the school schedule. We ask parents also to use their best judgment when determining travel to and from school.
We will continue to monitor the weather conditions. If changes are made to school schedules, we will update families and staff through our mass notification system as well as on the AISD website and through AISD social media.

Attention Parents - Due to current weather conditions, some schools may delay the release of students until the conditions improve. This may cause a delay in bus transportation, and we want parents to be aware of the reason. Also, the high school is currently without power due to the storm, and we are working to fix the issue as quickly as possible.

At the August meeting, the Angleton ISD Board of Trustees recognized student excellence and took action on key financial items.
First, the Board recognized two students, Keegan Martin and Clayton Payne, for their participation and achievement in the Great History Challenge. Keegan and Clayton competed at Nationals in the Great History Challenge and advanced to playoffs, where they tied for 19th place in the overall competition out of the more than 100,000 students who took part in the challenge this past year.
After an open hearing prior to the board meeting for the proposed 2026-2027 tax rate, trustees approved the upcoming year’s tax rate in the regular meeting. The district was able to reduce the tax rate to $0.9969, which is a reduction from the 2025-2026 rate that was set at $1.0219.
“This is the first time in decades that the tax rate is under one dollar,” Superintendent Dr. Alicia Press said. “We decreased the tax rate by 2.45 percent. That is a drop for our taxpayers, and the district has continued to decrease the tax rate for several years.”

AISD Tax Rate Decrease - Angleton ISD is excited to announce that it has lowered the tax rate to under a dollar. At the August meeting, the AISD Board of Trustees approved the 2026-2027 tax rate as $0.9969, and this is the first time in decades that the district has had the tax rate set under the dollar mark.
The district has steadily decreased the tax rate since 2018, lowering it another 2.5 cents for the 2026-2027 year from $1.0219 last year. The tax rate has decreased by an overall 45.83 cents since the 2018-2019 year.

This past year, we had several junior high students participate in the Great History Challenge, with 15 qualifying for the National Competition. We recognized two of the students who represented AISD at Nationals, at this week's school board meeting, Keegan Martin and Clayton Payne.
Keegan and Clayton competed at Nationals in the Great History Challenge and advanced to playoffs, where they tied for 19th place in the overall competition. That means they ranked 19th out of the more than 100,000 students who took part in the overall Great History Challenge this past year.
The Great History Challenge is a fun, national academic competition where students at the middle school level answer questions drawn from the National Council for the Social Studies curriculum standards.
The competition starts at the school level, where students participate in a nationwide online quiz to test their knowledge of history to see if they will advance to Regionals.
The top students from the regional championships are invited to the National Championship, a prestigious event where they compete against the best history students in the country, with fewer than one percent making it to that final level.
Please help us congratulate Kegan and Clayton for an exceptional showing in the Great History Challenge.
